Beautiful Destinations Seeks Photographers for The World's Coolest Job
Have you ever been chastised by a parent or teacher, urging you to stop spending so much time on social media and reminding you that Facebook won’t get you good grades, or Instagram won’t pay your bills? Well, get ready to clap back, because you now have the chance to land “The World’s Coolest Job,” just by using your savvy Insta-skills.
Beautiful Destinations, a creative agency with more than 13 million followers in 180 countries (more than 7 million on Instagram alone) that creates “social first” content for brands like Marriott, Fairmont Hotels, and NYC & Company, is looking to add to its content creation team — which is basically a fancy way of saying they’re looking to pay people to travel around the world and take amazing pictures and videos of their adventures. (The company lists skills with DSLR cameras or understanding of how to shoot video, as well as proficiency with photo and/or video editing platforms as “preferred,” but not required, skills.)
Up until now, Beautiful Destinations’ content creation team has been pretty small, consisting of only four people, including Jacob Riglin, London’s top Instagram travel photographer and Beautiful Destinations’ Director of Content, and Sam Kolder, the videographer for the DJ duo, The Chainsmokers. But, after receiving countless queries on Instagram about how to join the team, the agency decided to open the application process to the public. The best part? It’s not just for college grads, or even people over 18. In fact, Beautiful Destinations is especially interested in young talent (as young as 16).
So, what’s the catch? As far as we can tell, there isn’t one — as long as you like adventure. According to Beautiful Destinations’ website, a typical day on the job could include things like “dangling out of a helicopter to catch a hawk-eye’s view of Hong Kong or swimming with whale sharks to capture the beauty of the Philippines,” or waking up at 3:30 a.m. “to catch a golden desert sunrise in Dubai before jet-setting to Greece to sail along towering Santorini cliffs.” And, as if the all-expenses paid, around-the-world travel experience wasn’t enough, the job also pays actual money, as well as health benefits and equity in the company.
So how do you get the gig?
Sometime now through October 31, follow @BeautifulDestinations on Instagram, subscribe to their YouTube channel. Then, post an Instagram photo or video on your own page that explains what excites you most about travel, incorporating @beautifuldestinations and #BDTeam into your caption. (Be sure you post something new, rather than editing an old photo or video — in order to be eligible, the post has to be dated 9/27 or later.) Once you’re done with all of that, head to Beautiful Destinations’ website and fill out the online application, which includes a field for the Instagram URL of that video or picture you just posted.
